Match Report

Raynes Park got off to a solid start and controlled most of the early possession. However, chances for both sides were few and far between. As the half progressed Leo Goodwins made a string of excellent 1-on-1 stops to keep the scores level. It wasn't until late in the first half that a Charlie Ross darting run and a neat through ball to Liam Melbourne opened up the Hollyfield defence. A cut back across the 6-yard box lead to an easy tap in at the back post for Tyrese McFarlane to make it 1-0 RPHS.

Hollyfield came flying out of the blocks in the second half which totally took Raynes Park by surprise. Corner after corner finally led to a goalmouth scramble which resulted in an equaliser for the away team. Three more goals followed in quick succession due to a mix up between the defence and a couple of excellent solo efforts from the visitors. Late in the game yet another mazy run from Charlie Ross down the right hand side followed by a whipped cross to the back post found Tyrese, who controlled and slotted in the far right corner to claim his second of the match.

For a moment RPHS believed they could go on to further close the deficit, but time was against them. An incredible effort from the boys and they were unlucky that the game didn't finish with a score that represented this.
