Jack Petchey funding for two school projects

The awards scheme, launched by Mr Jack Petchey an East End entrepreneur in 1999 seeks to increase young people’s aspirations by rewarding their achievements and encouraging them to take pride in what they have done. The Jack Petchey Foundation is providing RPHS with £1200 of funding this academic year which means 2 students each term have the opportunity of receiving a £200 cash award to be donated to a school project of their choice or a charity supported by the school. The winners are decided by the RPHS Council.

At the end of term assembly in December, Mr Wheatley had the pleasure of announcing that Jack Hobbs and Conor Fagence had been selected to receive the awards.

Jack in Y9 mentored a Y7 student who wasn't settling well and he has been really positive and enthusiastic about it taking on this role and making a difference to the life of a younger student.

Connor Fagence Yr11 has turned it around completely this year - he is the top aps scorer in 11HZ and has donated the money to the  Halliwells Z charity.

Being nominated to receive the award is a great accolade for the students and has tangible benefits for the school.
