Yr6 into Yr7 transition gets underway

Between Monday the 16th and Friday the 20th March staff and students welcomed the Year 6 students and their families who have been offered a place at RPHS to our Spring Open Mornings. We were delighted to see so many of our September intake joining us for the morning. The Open Morning was the first stage of the Year 6 transition from primary to secondary school, which continues with an activity afternoon on 24th March or 21st April,  an induction day on 1st July (when the students will be told which House they will be in) and finally  a week of summer school from 27th July - 31st July. Our new students and their families were taken on a tour of the school by a Year 7 Ambassador to reassure them that the move to High School is not as daunting as it may seem. Year 6 students also took part in a lesson whilst families found out more details in preparation for the start of term on the 7th September. With lots of smiling faces at the end of each morning, our new intake seemed quite at home already.
