The DT Summer Show is simply stunning!

The inaugural D&T Summer Show opened on the 6th May and showcases some of the best work from Years 7 – 13. A workshop was expertly transformed into a perfect display space, and the students' work was carefully curated before hanging. Students helped with the planning and setting up of the show, and were proud to be able to show off their work. On Wednesday night we held the exhibition Private View, which was wonderfully catered for by the Year 10 catering students. Their hard work was clearly seen in the professional and very tasty canapés they served throughout the evening. The evening was great opportunity for students to discuss their work with parents, staff, governors and outside visitors.

The work itself ranged from small focused projects, which are designed to build up skills, to independently led projects that took many months to produce. Highlights of the show included a dress designed and made by a Year 7 student, outside of her lessons, to a custom made leg brace for an arthritic client by a Year 13 student. Other highly commended work included a meticulously crafted cushion and Edward Scissorhands inspired dress, to flat packed furniture designed by Year 9 students and Year 11 bird houses and board games.

The show is open to members of the public from 7th – 13th July 10am – 4pm, come and choose your favourite piece of work!
