Aimee Dexter

Aimee joined RPHS in the autumn of 2013 and first taught in our Maths Department as a PGCE student. It was obvious from the start that she would be a brilliant teacher; she was immensely passionate about her lessons and wanted every student to enjoy and share her love of the subject. We quickly snapped her up and she joined the department as an NQT in September 2014.

There was never any doubt that Aimee would be a fantastic colleague and addition to our school.  We knew her enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile for each and every one of her students, in fact any student including those she didn’t teach, would be a great asset to our department.  Aimee was always the first to volunteer her time for the students and the school taking part in trips to Kingswood and Snowdonia, and teaching Saturday school and countless after school and holiday classes.

The overwhelming, beautiful and heartfelt tributes to her from students reflect the love and respect that she had for all of the young people in our school community. One Year 10 student poignantly commented that she “didn’t treat me on how I acted, which could come across as being rude… she treated me as a somebody.”

On an emotional level, many of us across the whole school at first underestimated but soon realised what a great friend Aimee would become. Her infectious cheekiness and humour always brightened the day and she was often found in Bushey walking around in her socks drinking out of her No 1 Grandad mug or playing pranks on her colleagues! She was always at the centre of any social occasion; consistently the first to arrive and regularly the last to leave, her positivity and joy for life ensured that everyone always enjoyed themselves.

Words cannot describe how hugely Aimee will be missed as a teacher, colleague and friend. She will always be remembered and held in our hearts with much love, laughter and affection.
