Auschwitz trip

Sixth form students took a moving educational visit to the World War 2 concentration camp Auschwitz.

A Level history students Eneaalla and Christina learned more about the history and impact of the Holocaust during the trip to Poland.

They toured the camp, learning about the life of the prisoners, and later took part in an online seminar.

Year 12 Eneaalla said: “You can study the Holocaust in the classroom, but nothing prepares you for seeing the camps in person.

“The context, the way people lived—it completely changed how I thought about the Holocaust. It’s crazy; this is actually what happened. It’s hard to believe.”

Christina said: “It was a surreal experience. It was very moving to be at a place which was a central point in our recent history.

“You get a real sense of the treatment they would have endured. It really hits you when you are there. It’s something that I will carry with me forever.”
