GCSE Press Release: Results 2020

Following Monday’s announcement by the Department for Education that the algorithm used to determine A-Levels had been abandoned, the school was relieved to learn that GCSE students would be awarded their centre assessment grades this year.

Today’s results follow an excellent set of A-Level results last week and represent continued improvements in the outcomes RPHS students achieve.

Headteacher Mrs Heard commented:

“It has been a very anxious time for our students, their families and our teachers with such a high level of uncertainty surrounding the results this year. I would like to congratulate our students as they should feel very proud of the results they have achieved. We are delighted with the progress our students have made and I am delighted that they have been rewarded for their hard work.

We are also pleased that we have reached the point where our students can look to the future and are able to go on to the next stage of their lives. On behalf of the whole school community, congratulations to our wonderful students for remaining resilient and achieving GCSE examination success in such difficult circumstances.”

Our dedicated teachers followed Ofqual’s procedures, making considered judgements based on a clear rationale and a robust range of existing available evidence. Whilst these grades reflect years of focused effort and hard work, we are also mindful that some students would have preferred to have had the opportunity to actually sit their examinations.

Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Mc Inerney added:

“I would like to congratulate our students who have worked so hard and achieved an excellent set of results. We are delighted that so many of our Year 11 cohort have chosen to stay at RPHS to continue their studies in our Sixth Form and we are looking forward to welcoming our new cohort back to school in September.”
