WH AUDEN

Today, on the anniversary of the death of W. H. Auden, we remember one of the twentieth century's most celebrated poets. Auden died on 29th September 1973, but his influence continues to be felt through his poetry and the generations of readers he has inspired.
At Raynes Park High School, his legacy has a special significance. Auden wrote our original school song for the school's first Headteacher, Dr John Garrett. While the song has been updated over time to reflect our modern, mixed school community, it remains an important part of our traditions and a lasting connection to one of Britain's greatest literary figures.
Today we celebrate both his remarkable contribution to literature and his enduring place in our school's history.
