U13 Kings of Merton

'Tooting & Mitcham F.C. was the venue for the U13s Merton Schools football final this past week, after a last minute calculation landed the Year 8 boys into the final they were keen to show they deserved to be there. The opponents - Harris Merton.

The setting for the game suited the Raynes Park style perfectly, a wide pitch with tons of space in the middle of the park allowed the boys to play their fluid passing football from the start. From the first whistle they looked in complete control of the final, wave after wave of attack came at Harris and they had little idea how to get out of their own half. After failing to capitalise on a few occasions, finally RPHS were give the opportunity to go ahead when Tyelan was brought down from behind in the area. He picked himself up, confidently placed the ball on the spot and dispatched it into the bottom corner - 1-0.

After the initial break through the flood gates opened. Some neat passing through the midfield and out to the wing led to a nicely timed pull back for Jack Gray to slot home to make it 2-0. Over the next 30 minutes the Raynes Park dominated possession and the chances, 5 of which were converted by a combination of Tyelan  (3- Hat trick) and Karim (2).

In the final 10 minutes, with the opposition thoroughly deflated and after a slight tactical change up, it was left for Sam P - probably the best shout for the RPHS U13s player of the season, to cap off the victory with a well worked solo effort. Completing the scoring and taking the Final 7-0.

Congratulations to all the boys for being MERTON BOROUGH CHAMPS!!'
