What is the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting)?
A plethora of opportunities await you in the Performing and Creative arts sector if you have the passion and tenacity to pursue a career in theatre and drama. The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting) course will allow you to build upon the knowledge you have gained whilst studying GCSE Drama with a strong emphasis on working practically as you would do in a rehearsal room.
What will I study?
You’ll study 5 units and will work towards several performances throughout the course. The two mandatory units are Units 1 and 2. To accompany these units you will study acting styles, improvisation and storytelling, all of which will allow you to work creatively whilst acquiring the essential skills that all performers should possess to succeed in the industry.
The units that you will study have been carefully selected to ensure that you are prepared fully for a career in the performing arts as well as giving you the opportunity to develop vital skills such as communication, team work and creativity which will be useful in all of your future endeavours.
How will I be assessed?
Predominately you will be assessed internally with 66% of the course assessed and validated by your course teacher and the creative arts department. 33% of the course will be assessed externally with your course teacher preparing you extensively for the assessment of this unit and all units of the course.
Who should I study BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting)?
The course will fully prepare you for studying and training in theatre and drama at both Drama School and University.
