Information For Staff

All staff have an important role to play in supporting students with their career development and have a duty to promote and practice equal opportunities for all young people regardless of gender, ethnic origin, and disability.

Staff should encourage conversations about career aspirations and next steps with the students. The student area has lots of information about the different options at each transition point which you can look at or you can signpost your students to.

Subject teachers have a particular duty to demonstrate how the skills and knowledge that is learned in the classroom is important and relevant to the world of work. For this reason, we have set up the Careers Champions group within the school so that we can share ideas and plan how best to incorporate careers learning into lessons.

RAYNES PARK HIGH SCHOOL CAREERS CHAMPIONS:
  • Mr P Fuller, Lead Careers Champion– Media Studies
  • Ms M Bowes – Science
  • Mr R Harris – Design and Technology
  • Mr D Hatch – Mathematics

If you are interested in being a Careers Champion for your department, please discuss this with your Head of Department and contact Ms J Fowler on jfowler@raynespark.merton.sch.uk.

If you think a particular student could benefit from additional careers guidance, please discuss this with either their Tutor, Head of Year or Key Support Worker and a referral can be made for a careers guidance interview.
