My Child does not have many friends who will be transitioning with them to Rphs. How will tutor groups be decided?

Our induction days will help students settle in and meet their fellow classmates. Our induction activities are designed to help students make new friends and integrate into their year group. After a couple of weeks, students become well-adjusted to the daily routines with their new classmates. We make careful decisions when creating the groups considering a fair spread of ability and gender and balancing any behavioural or special educational needs.

How will RPHS look after My Child and their WELLBEING?

At RPHS we value student wellbeing and work hard to promote a positive learning environment to support mental health across our school. We have a vast pastoral and safeguarding team who are able to support you and your child.

The first point of contact is your child’s tutor. In addition to the tutor, your child will have a Pastoral Support Officer (PSO) and a Head Of Year (HoY). Students will also be supported by the Assistant Headteacher for Y7.

We have many trained first aid staff within school and a well-being Manager. If your child is ever worried or scared about anything they can tell any adult that they feel comfortable to talk to, their tutor would be the best place to start.

Our dedicated pastoral team and are able to provide outstanding levels of pastoral care to fulfil our school values and support our students. We are able to offer a multitude of in-house support to our students to ensure their wellbeing needs are met and also work in partnership with a number of external agencies who offer specialist support.

You can find more information on how key members of staff will support your child here: /page/?title=Student+Welfare&pid=129

I believe I am entitled to financial support- what do I need to do?

In many circumstance we are able to offer Financial Support to eligible families.

If you are already in receipt of Free School Meals or Pupil Premium and your child attends a Merton Primary school, you do not need to do anything.

If you are transitioning from a non-Merton primary feeder school and feel you may be eligible for Free School Meals, please ensure you apply directly to Merton.

What food options are available and How does my child pay for it?

Students are welcome to bring a pack lunch or purchase food from our Canteen. Our Canteen serves a range of meal options; there is always a halal and vegetarian option.

The school uses an outside caterer, Harrison. There is an emphasis on Healthy Eating and the menus reflect this.

Payment in the canteen
Payment can only be made via Scopay (separate log-in information will be sent to parents and carers). If a student forgets to top up their lunch money they can speak to a teacher in the canteen; no child will go without lunch, but you must pay any money owed back the next day.

What happens if I get lost or am late to a lesson?

You will be given a school map when you start in September to help you find your way round the school site. Always ask another student or a member of staff to help you find where you need to get to.

If you are late to a lesson you must apologise to the teacher for being late and then promptly sit down at your desk. But don't worry as you will probably only be late at first as you will soon find your way around.

What do I do when I need to leave school for an appointment?

There may be occasions where you will need to leave school before the end of the day; please go to the Attendance Officer first to receive a permission slip and then show this to the Receptionist as you leave.
